Ocean Physics Laboratory
Currently OPL has several field programs:
- BTM (The Bermuda Testbed Mooring)
- O-SCOPE (Oceanographic-Systems for Chemical, Optical and Physical Experiments)
- HyCODE (High Resolution Time Series Measurements of Bio-optical and Physical Variability in the Coastal Ocean as part of HyCODE)
OPL projects in a post-field campaign stage are:
- The Arabian Sea Study
- CMO (Coastal Mixing & Optics)
- LOOPS (Littoral Ocean Observing and Predictive System)
Arabian Sea and CMO involved oceanographic moorings as the primary instrumentation platform and LOOPS was a process study which featured autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The experimental portion of these projects ended in October 1995, June 1997, and October 1998 respectively. Thus, current OPL efforts are aimed at data analysis and assimilation.
